Bugliosi Campaign Continues
to Roll in the Headlines
a blog post by
Olivia
Since our book, The
Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder by Vincent
Bugliosi, hit The New York Times bestseller list last
month, we have been bombarded with sources asking us how
influential the Web has been over creating this and many
other successes. With modesty, we essentially reply, "That’s
the power of the Internet!"
Yet, another of our projects launched at the number one
spot on the very same list: Moscow Rules by Daniel
Silva. So what is our secret and how can the thousands of
books released every year receive the same honor? Well, the
truth is, just as not all books are the same, not every book
can get there, but Web publicity is undoubtedly a tool for
their success. The response from internet publicity may not
always be #1 best seller worthy, but it is the lasting web
presence created from our wonderful staff of hard working
publicists that make each campaign worthwhile.
The secret: content. Unique articles written by the author,
excerpts from the book, videos, reviews, and anything that
the average reader will actually want to stop and read. Now
that tangible book review sections are losing their appeal,
aka LA Times book review, the average Joe will go
online to find the latest and greatest books. Give them more
than a cover image, ISBN number, and PW review and
they will be itching to click the "BUY" button. Take a look
at what others have to say about it: |
Web becomes vehicle to create

"We can say, 'OK, we lost the L.A. Times [book review], but wow,
there are literary bloggers
and other sites supporting books,' Ms. Burke says. 'They're
coming through for us, and
they sell our books.'"

 Superstar literary agent Sandy
Dijkstra: Q&A
Posted: August 8th, 2008 by Alan Rinzler
How important is web marketing?
". . . authors and agents have a tremendous opportunity now to
control marketing direct
to readers by going on the internet, building interactive web
sites, and blogging.
Some publishers, like Penguin and Random House, support author web
sites and blogs,
but it’s still up to the author and agent to keep pushing on this,
with the help of
professional tech design and Web-marketing specialists for hire.
I’ve been recommending
Fauzia-Burke Associates, for
example, and there are many others."
